Chennault Flying Service is proud to serve the military community. Our Flight Training is approved for Veterans Affairs (VA) Educational Benefits. We can assist you in using your GI BillⓇ or VA benefits to pay for approved flight training to fulfill your dreams of becoming a certified pilot!

At Chennault Flying Service, we understand the complexity of using your GI BillⓇ and VA benefits for flight training. Our trained staff are well versed in assisting military members map out a flight training plan.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill (http://benefits.va.gov/gibill/index.asp)

What can I use my benefits for?

You can use your Veteran Educational benefits towards the following flight training:

  • Instrument Rating

  • Commercial Pilot License

  • Multi-Engine Rating

  • Instructor Ratings:

    • Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)

    •  Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument (CFI-I)

    • Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI)

You are unable to use your GI BillⓇ or VA Benefits for Private Pilot Training, except when it’s part of an accredited 4-year degree program at a public institution. The GI BillⓇ/VA benefits fund flight training to help towards getting a job, because Private Pilot can be gained solely for social and recreational reasons and does not allow a pilot to earn money, the VA will generally not fund it.

Chennault Flying Service does not have an approved course for your Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) licence. However, we do offer a Part 61 Airline Transport License (ATP) course.

How can I use my benefits?

You can use your GI BillⓇ/ VA benefits for flight training in combination with completing an online bachelor's degree in Aviation with Liberty University. We are a Flight Training Affiliate for Liberty University.

When using your GI BillⓇ/ VA benefits through a Private Institution such as Liberty University, the VA can cover the full cost of training, or up to a specific amount (this amount changes each academic year (August 1st to July 31st) - please check the VA website for current figures), whichever is less.

You can use your GI BillⓇ directly through us as a Vocational program for approved flight training courses. This is not in combination with a degree program.

When using your GI BillⓇ vocationally, the VA can cover the full cost of training, or up to a specific amount (this amount changes each academic year (August 1st to July 31st) - please check the VA website for current figures), whichever is less. The cap on vocational training is significantly lower than the cap for training through a University program. Please contact us for estimated course pricing.

Will the VA cover housing?

If you are using your Post-9/11 GI BillⓇ through a University program, the VA will generally provide a monthly housing stipend, and books and supplies stipend. If you are using your GI BillⓇ vocationally, the VA will not cover housing.

What are the current VA rates?

Check the rates for the current VA education benefits here. These change each academic year (August 1st to July 31st).
